So it’s the last quarter of the calendar year. Have you met your goals? Have you exceeded them? Not even close? Do you even have any goals? I know, a lot of questions… but if you answer them honestly, you are well on the way to transforming your business in the next 90 days and finish strong.
If you don’t have goals or need to set new ones because you’re ahead of schedule or completed the old ones…keep in mind to set SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-based). Here are a few examples:
- Reduce office supply costs by 10% by the end of the 4thquarter.
- I want to write a book on time management that is at least 200 pages in length and have it done by December 16th. I’ll commit myself to writing at least 2 pages every workday until I reach completion.
Not sure where to start? This is where a good imagination and visualization come in handy. The sky is the limit. Start with your proverbial “big picture” and break that down into 10 year, 5 year, 3 year, 1 year, 90 days, 60 days then 30 day goals. Once you can picture your forest (big picture), you can start focusing on your individual trees and achieving your goals, building on each achievement… one step (and one tree) at a time.
Bonus step to achieving your goals: Tell Someone! Accountability is a killer motivator. Tell someone what your goals and dreams are…someone that wants you to be a winner. Someone that wants you to achieve your goals and believe me, you’ll smash through your them in no time. Don’t have a goal partner? Post your goals in the comments and check back often.
Happy Finish! Good Luck!
