I have to admit. I have a not so secret love affair going on with Stripe. Oh how I love them. Let me count the ways.
I bit ago, I did a review video for Paypal Alternatives. Although it’s been awhile, and there have been some changes – I still really dig Stripe.
I want to keep this short so I’m just going to do a quick overview and deep dive on two of the Stripe features that I love.
Not Just For Developers
Although Stripe is marketed as being for developers, don’t let that deter you from taking a look at them as a pretty good alternative to PayPal and other big boy/big fee merchant service providers.
Especially if you have a service business where you have recurring payments.
Growing Love Affair
Some of the things I love – evolving features and ease of signup (but pay attention to the fine print in the terms of service – not all businesses and online services/products are allowed).
Two features in particular that I love…
#1 – Their fee structure.
A lot of merchant service providers, including PayPal, charge an additional fee for recurring billing or subscriptions. Stripe does not.
With Stripe it’s the same fee for singular payments or recurring payments.
Currently that fee is: 2.9% + 30¢ per successful charge.
Putting that into perspective… for every $100… the fee is $3.20 ($100 x 2.9% or $2.90 + 0.30).
And bonus, they do not charge for refunds (they will refund the fee).
#2 – Clean, Easy to use User Interface.
It’s very easy to get around and find the information you’re looking for (primarily knowing how much money you’re making).
The top 3 things you will probably do in Stripe are (1) review receipts, (2) create subscription plans, and (3) occasionally process refunds.
