Ever look at someone else that’s doing the same thing that you’re doing (business wise) and wonder to yourself how did they get to where they are and how is that you’re still where you are?
No? Just me? Well then work with me a second and pretend that you’re just like me and you’ve wondered to yourself how you can get out of your own way and get growing in your business “like everybody else”…
It’s no secret (or at least it shouldn’t be), that I take a systematic approach to just about everything in life and business. There’s a method to all the madness and chaos. Growing a business isn’t any different. There’s a process and method to be found there too.
A Game Plan
Nothing happens without a plan… at least nothing involving more than one person. Running a business can be like directing a beautiful symphony. Getting the right team together… and directing them to make beautiful music. All of that requires a plan… growing your business requires a plan, too.
You’re not just going to wake up one day with a business that went from a solopreneur to a 10 person team…grossing 6-7 figures in revenue. To get to a team and grow your revenue, you need to intend to do that…you need a plan.
Growth Goals
For some, goals are overrated. And you don’t HAVE to have them. You can be successful without them but to me, you’ll get to your destination if you have a roadmap (or goals). So take a seat and figure out where you are and where you would like to be… then
Take Action
Once you have gotten your game plan and goals together, get to it. Start taking some action. You have to take steps to get from where you are to where you are going. Once you have the momentum going and flowing before you know it… you’ll be there. Just think, if you add a little bit to the molehill every day, eventually you will have a mountain of success on your hands.
Accountability
Tell someone and allow them to hold you accountable. Ask them to help you be successful. Ask them to call you on your BS…
Something crazy happens to me when I know that I have to “justify” my lack of action to someone that believes in me…I don’t want to let them down so even if it’s late at night, I will muster the energy to get it done.
Maybe having to be accountable to someone other than yourself will have the same effect on you.
Slow And Steady
I am so tired of seen the “instant”, overnight success stories. I’m not knocking any of those folks but my reality isn’t like that. Nor is that the reality of most of the people I know or the people that I work with.
My peeps may not like it but seriously, slow and steady really does win the race. Meaning slow growth can and will happen. It’s about the multiplying effect that… the momentum of it all.
Growing a business can be just as terrifying as starting a business… but you can’t sit there scared and letting fear rob you of the business you really want, right?
What are your steps to systematic growth? I’d love to hear from you…
Until next time,
J
